New Roblox Shop Is Live, and It’s Watching What You Buy!
Every Roblox game now has Shop, a personalized shopping page that surfaces passes, developer products, and Robux packages tailored to you. On paper, it’s a convenience feature: no more digging through clunky in-game menus to find that one gamepass.
Here is where players get uneasy. Roblox is pitching Shop to developers on one number above all else: Steal a Brainrot saw over a 5% increase in Robux spent per player once personalization kicked in. In other words, the headline feature is not "easier to find stuff," it is "players spend more." The recommendations are powered by Roblox's Product Intelligence system, which does not just look at what you do in one game; it factors in your behavior across the entire platform to decide what to dangle in front of you.
That combination is exactly what has a chunk of the community pumping the brakes:
It feels like a built-in ad. That persistent Shop button on your screen at all times is, for many players, a permanent storefront you never asked to open.
The tracking makes people nervous. A cross-platform recommendation engine deciding what to sell you, on a platform this young, has players (and even some devs) asking how much of their behavior is being logged to fuel it.
Another cash grab? A common refrain: why optimize how fast players spend instead of just making games worth spending on?
Every shop starts to look the same. Developers worry the uniform Roblox UI strips away the custom storefronts that gave their games personality, and there is no clean 3D preview for skins or auras, so you might buy something and have no idea where it went.
To be fair, Shop is optional for creators; they can disable the button and keep their own store, and it does not change how much devs earn per sale. But intent matters, and Roblox has been pretty upfront about the goal: more spending, faster. Whether that is a helpful upgrade or a slippery slope probably depends on how much self-control you have when a "Top Pick" is one tap away. Keep an eye on your Robux this week.

If there is a game or creator that defined your year, now is the time to shout them out.
