Roblox (Finally) Explains How Bans Actually Work

If your feed has been full of ā€œI got banned for no reasonā€ posts lately, this is Roblox’s answer. In a DevForum post, Roblox staff explained how account bans and alt detection work, and announced several changes.

The main point is that account bans are meant for severe or repeated violations, not for everyday mistakes. Roblox lists child endangerment, real-world harm, and hate speech as examples of severe violations. Ignoring warnings for smaller violations repeatedly can also lead to a ban.

What about alt accounts? When Roblox bans an account for a severe violation, it also looks for other accounts it believes belong to the same person. It uses a mix of device, behavior, and identity signals, checked by both automated systems and human reviewers. Most importantly, Roblox says sharing an IP address or Wi-Fi network does not trigger action on its own, and neither does using a VPN. So if your sibling gets banned, your account shouldn’t go down just because you share a home network.

What’s changing:

  • Clearer ban notices: Roblox paused the username scan that caused some of the recent bans and is working on clearer notices. Old usernames that break the rules get reset, and notices will soon show the reset name so you can tell which account was affected.

  • Fairer Marketplace rules: First-time mistakes in item descriptions will be treated differently from repeat violations.

  • 72 hours for creators to fix issues: For lower-severity issues in games available in Roblox Select, developers now get 72 hours to fix the problem before restrictions apply.

  • New Issues & Appeals page: Creators can find it in Creator Hub under the game’s Safety tab. Collaborators with edit permissions can now see violations and file appeals, not just the owner.

If you need to appeal: You generally have 30 days after a ban (longer in some regions), and you can appeal up to two times, even after an instant automated rejection. Only the account holder can appeal, so friends can’t do it for you. In some regions, appealing an alt-account ban may require ID verification.

Not everyone is happy. Players in the comments asked how Roblox defines ā€œsevere,ā€ whether a human actually reviews appeals, and why some bans stayed in place even after a successful appeal. Many of those questions still haven’t been answered. Still, this is the clearest explanation of the system Roblox has given so far.

Beyond Nen Launches Today After a Major Rework

Hunter x Hunter fans, it’s finally here. Beyond Nen launches today, a month after the developers took the game offline to rebuild it.

Early Access closed on October 7, and the team has spent the time since working through the problems players reported. According to the developers, the test made it clear what worked and what didn’t. So they didn’t just pile on new content. They went back and reworked the existing systems, improved the overall experience, and changed how new players are introduced to the game and how they progress through it.

ā€œWe’ve taken that feedback seriously,ā€ the team said. That means the version going live today should feel noticeably different from what Early Access players remember.

If you’re new to Beyond Nen, it’s an action RPG where you start on Whale Island, roll for your race and lineage, collect weapons, and work toward passing the Hunter Exam. Pass it, and you unlock Nen, which you can shape into your own fighting style using one of six Nen types.
