Your Age Check Doesn't Stop at the Selfie
If you've done Roblox's facial age check, you probably figured that was that. One selfie, one estimate, done. Turns out that's only step one. Roblox explained that age assurance now keeps running in the background long after your selfie. Once you're verified, a machine learning system quietly watches whether your account keeps behaving like the age it was assigned. The reason is simple: accounts get shared, handed down to younger siblings, or sold off, and some people actively try to trick the system. A one-time check can't catch any of that.
So what is it looking at? Roblox says it pulls signals like who you talk to and how often, when and how long you play, how old your account is, and even the way you chat across different games. All of that feeds models that estimate your age band and keep updating over time.
The scale is wild. Roblox's facial age estimation has processed 338 million age-check records so far, and the behavioral layer chews through close to two billion account-level records every single day, trained on around 30 million high-confidence age labels. The company says more than 99% of accounts stay in the same broad age band from one day to the next.
Roblox is framing all of this as a privacy-first, safety-first move, and says it built the whole thing in-house so it controls exactly what data goes in. Whether you find continuous behavioral checks reassuring or a little unsettling probably depends on how you feel about being modeled around the clock. Either way, this is where age verification on Roblox is heading, and the selfie was just the front door.
A Rough Week for Roblox (and the Big Changes Behind It)
Roblox just had one of its ugliest earnings weeks in a while. The stock is down roughly 70% over the past year, wiping out around $70 billion in value, and it slid even further after the Q2 2026 report. But you’re not an investor, so who cares, right? Wrong!
Here's the part that matters for you. Roblox pointed to two things: a shortage of fresh viral hits, and a change to its recommendation algorithm. That algorithm now leans toward games that keep you coming back long term rather than ones that squeeze the most money the fastest. In plain terms, the system is pushing "sticky" experiences over quick-cash ones, which reshapes what shows up on your home page.
KreekCraft weighed in too, arguing that giant hits like Grow a Garden brought in massive traffic and money, and without a new multimillion-player smash to replace them, growth naturally cooled off. He also wasn't thrilled with Roblox leaning on developers as the reason, pointing at the pile of dev-unfriendly changes the platform has shipped lately. It's a messy moment, and those discovery tweaks mean your recommended games may start looking a little different.
Roblox AI Mods Take Down Another Game - And Only They Know Why
The AI moderation saga rolls on, and this one is almost comedic. The Stalker: Reborn, a longtime Roblox staple from verified creator Maximum_ADHD, was flagged and pulled by the automated moderation system, according to the creator himself. The punchline? This is a game Roblox once spotlighted on its own official YouTube channel years ago. Now its own bot decided it had to go.
It fits a frustrating pattern developers have been shouting about for months: games getting privated or terminated with no clear reason and no real explanation, often by automated systems that seem to misfire constantly. When a game with that kind of history gets swept up, it's hard to blame creators for feeling nervous about what the AI flags next. I guess Skynet started its career in Roblox.
Roblox Will Allow You to Add Your School?
A leak making the rounds suggests Roblox is testing a "Schools" feature that would let you link your account to your real school, possibly in exchange for a free accessory. Early findings point to it being aimed at colleges and universities rather than K-12, reportedly built with student-verification service UNiDAYS, and only visible to other students from the same school.
Nothing is official yet, and it hasn't shipped, so treat this as a maybe. The community is already having fun with it, mostly joking about the classic risk of getting enforcement-banned the second you log in on school WiFi. Would you trade your real school info for one cosmetic? That's the question everyone's chewing on.
