Blox Fruits Phoned In Halloween This Year (But There’s Hope)

The Hellfire Halloween event is live, and the honest verdict is that it feels very familiar, with fewer innovations than expected. Yes, two new bosses are here: The Great Pumpkin and the Hell Rider. The Werewolf boss is back too. There’s also a new reward: Hellfire, a Mythical mutation for Gas.
The bigger problem is that most things are largely copy/paste from last year. Trick-or-Treat doors, the Witch and her potions, and the Werewolf are all back from 2025. Players are calling it recycled content, and let’s not get into why Venom and Shadow reworks still haven’t shown up. As if that’s not enough, the event is also shorter. It ends November 15, while last year’s ran for about a month!
But there are some good things! Nearly everyone agrees on one thing: Hellfire looks great. The chainsaw-swinging fire-demon look is the most stylish thing Gamer Robot has shipped in a while, and newer players who missed last year are having a good time. And we kept the best for last: rumors of a new update coming soon (Xmas?) with reworked Venom, so stay tuned!
The Hollow Is Over, and It Was… Fine?
We've just had back-to-back events on Roblox: Hunt Roblox 20 and the Hollow Halloween event. After more than a year without events, we have to say Roblox has certainly stepped up its game. However, were both events successful?
The Hunt Roblox 20 was better just because the quests were more complicated. While the maze and Relic aspect of the Hollow Hub was pretty fun, the difficulty of the Hollow quests dulled its appeal for us and the rest of the community.
Not to say that The Hollow didn't have its fun moments, since it did. It’s miles better than the previous The Hatch Mega Hunt event where 100s of games participated with the simplest quests, and that's without mentioning the controversy surrounding it. So far, the 2026 events have both been hits, and hopefully we'll see another quality event during Winter from Roblox!
Practical Basketball Finally Launched, and Nobody Expected Numbers Like This

After several stress tests, setbacks, and delays, Practical Basketball is finally out. It launched to nearly 100K players during Halloween weekend, when almost every major Roblox game was competing for attention with seasonal updates.
The launch numbers are the real story. Roblox sports games have usually been anime-inspired arcade titles like Basketball Zero, built around flashy VFX, dramatic cutscenes, and fast gameplay. Practical Basketball is the opposite: a grounded, semi-realistic sim that could feel slow to younger players. Its debut still shows there’s a real audience for this kind of game.
We also think the strong launch points to a bigger problem in the genre. Since Volleyball Legends and Blue Lock Rivals took off in 2024, Roblox sports hasn’t had another breakout hit. FUT and Soccer Zero came in with big expectations, but they let players down with rough polish and gameplay that felt too familiar. With so few sports games worth playing, Practical Basketball arrived at exactly the right time.
The developers now have a real shot at reaching the top of the charts and staying there, unlike the low-effort AI releases that disappear a week after launch. To get there, they’ll need to fix the hub glitches and invest heavily in club and team-based modes. Those are what will keep players around long term.
(Non-Halloween) Weekend Quick Hits

It was a helluva Halloween, and here are some non-spooky quick notes:
The Jonas Brothers concert in Steal an Egg left many fans unhappy after a glitch meant many players didn’t get their rewards.
Ragdoll games are suddenly climbing out of nowhere, and the genre is one to watch.
The Driving Empire developer released a new game called Mechanic Legends, and it’s off to a nice start thanks to much deeper customization and tuning than Driving Empire.
That's a wrap for this week's newsletter! Keep those notifications on because the Roblox world never sleeps, and neither do we. Whether you're charging up lightning orbs, surviving zombie hordes, testing samurai skills, or dodging forest frogs, share your adventures with our Reddit community. Until next time, keep on gaming!
